Homicide Investigation
The Birmingham Police Department reports detectives are conducting a homicide investigation. The incident occurred on Saturday December 28, 2019 at approximately 3:53 a.m.
The identity of the deceased will be released upon notification of next of kin.
Officers from the West Precinct responded to a call of shots fired at 2626 Court R Ensley. Upon arrival officers located one person unresponsive suffering from a gunshot wound. Birmingham Fire and Rescue reported to the scene and transported the victim to UAB Hospital. Detectives received information that the victim was pronounced deceased by hospital staff. Detectives were also advised that another person was transported to a local area hospital by private vehicle with non-life threatening injuries. While on scene Officers also encountered a person who was grazed and was treated on the scene for minor injuries sustained.
There are no suspect(s) in custody. This is an ongoing investigation. Additional details will be provided as they come available.
