Homicide Investigation
The Birmingham Police Department is conducting a homicide investigation. The incident occurred on Monday, February 21, 2022.
The victim has been identified as:
Joshua Isaiah Carpenter, (26), B/M, of Birmingham, Alabama.
At approximately 7:15 p.m., North Precinct officers were dispatched to an apartment complex in the 1700 block of 33rd Street North on report of shots fired. Officers were then alerted a victim had been shot at the location. Officers arrived on the scene and discovered a male lying unresponsive suffering from an apparent gunshot wound.
Birmingham Fire and Rescue personnel arrived on the scene and pronounced the victim deceased.
Details are limited in this investigation. Currently, there is no one in custody.
