Homicide Investigation
The Birmingham Police Department is conducting a homicide investigation. The incident occurred on Tuesday, February 22, 2022.
The victim has been identified as:
Demetrius John-Mario Young, (30), B/M, of Birmingham, Alabama.
At approximately 6:45 p.m., East Precinct officers were dispatched to a private residence in the 500 block of 83rd Place South on report of a person shot. Officers arrived on the scene and discovered the victim inside of the residence suffering from an apparent gunshot wound.
Birmingham Fire and Rescue personnel arrived on the scene and pronounced the victim deceased.
The preliminary investigation suggests a verbal and/or physical argument took place prior to shots being fired.
Currently, there is no suspect(s) in custody.
