Homicide Investigation
The Birmingham Police Department is conducting a homicide investigation. The incident occurred on Friday, March 8, 2024.
The victim has been identified as:
Roderick Walker, (47), B/M, of Birmingham, Alabama.
At approximately 12:40 a.m., West Precinct officers were dispatched to a Shot Spotter alert in the 4300 Block of Avenue U. While en route officers were updated a person was shot in the 4200 Block of Avenue U.
Officers arrived on the scene when they observed the victim suffering from an apparent gunshot wound.
Birmingham Fire and Rescue personnel arrived on the scene and transported the victim to UAB Hospital. UAB Hospital staff pronounced the victim deceased.
