Media Release 43 – Shooting Investigation – 400 Block 86th Street

Shooting Investigation

The Birmingham Police Department is conducting a shooting investigation. The incident occurred on Sunday, February 19, 2023.

Around 12:35 am East Precinct officers responded to a call for a person shot in the 400 block of 86th Street South. Upon arrival officers observed two males suffering from gunshot wounds.

Officers were able to use a tourniquet on an 18-year-old victim before he was transported to UAB Hospital by Birmingham Fire and Rescue. A 17-year-old victim was also transported to UAB by BFRS. A third teen, 16 years old, was transported from the incident location by private vehicle to UAB Hospital. All three are said to have non-life-threatening injuries.

Preliminary investigation suggests that there was a house party at a short-term vacation rental during the time of the shooting incident. It is unknown if any adults/parents were there at the time of the incident.

Currently there are no suspects in custody. Detectives are working on the case.
