Media Release 51- Homicide Investigation- Vassar Avenue

Homicide Investigation

The Birmingham Police Department is conducting a homicide investigation. The incident occurred on Saturday, March 16, 2024.

The victim will be identified upon notification to the next of kin.

At approximately 11:15 p.m. East Precinct officers were dispatched near the 8300 Block of Vassar Avenue on report of a Shot Spotter alert.

Officers arrived on the scene and then observed a male lying unresponsive in the roadway suffering from an apparent gunshot wound.

Birmingham Fire and Rescue personnel arrived on the scene and pronounced the victim deceased.

Details are limited in this investigation.

There is no one in custody.
