Media Release 52- Double Homicide- Boise Avenue

Double Homicide Investigation

The Birmingham Police Department is conducting a double homicide investigation. The incident occurred on Sunday, March 17, 2024.

The victims have been identified as:

  1. Kartece Perkins, (24), B/M, of Birmingham, Alabama.
  2. Leon Wyatt Jr., (24), B/M, of Birmingham, Alabama.

Shortly after 6 a.m., West Precinct officers were dispatched to a Shot Spotter alert in the 3400 Block of Boise Avenue. Officers were updated that two males were lying in the roadway.

Officers arrived on the scene and then located the victims lying in the roadway suffering from gunshot wounds.

Birmingham Fire and Rescue personnel arrived on the scene and pronounced both victims deceased.

The preliminary investigation suggests multiple shots were fired on Boise Avenue and the victims were struck by gunfire in a targeted shooting.

There is no one in custody.
