Homicide Investigation
The Birmingham Police Department is conducting a homicide investigation. The incident occurred on Monday, March 18, 2024.
The victim will be identified upon notification to the next of kin.
At approximately 5:20 p.m., West Precinct officers were dispatched to a Shot Spotter alert in the 1600 Block of 27th Street Ensley.
Officers arrived near the area when they observed an adult male lying unresponsive in the roadway in the 2700 Block of Avenue P. The victim was suffering from an apparent gunshot wound.
Birmingham Fire and Rescue personnel arrived on the scene and pronounced the victim deceased.
The preliminary investigation suggests the victim was shot in the 2700 Block of Avenue P. Additional details are limited.
There is no one in custody.
