Arrest Made in Navari Jones’ Homicide Investigation

The Birmingham Police Department reports detectives have obtained a warrant for an arrest in connection to the murder of Navari Jones. Mr. Jones was fatally shot on Saturday, February 26, 2022, while at 905 Reverend Abraham Woods Junior Boulevard.

The suspect has been identified as:
Ernando Dorsey, (44), B/M, of Birmingham, Alabama.

On Monday, March 7, 2022, Birmingham Police Detectives presented information on the case to the Jefferson County District Attorney’s Office. After an assessment of the information, detectives obtained the following warrants: Murder ($1,500,000 Bond), Attempted Murder X’s 2 ($60,000 Bond on each charge), Domestic Violence Assault 3rd Degree ($3,000 Bond).

On Friday, March 18, 2022, The United States Marshal’s Fugitive Task Force took the suspect into custody in Calera, Alabama. Ernando Dorsey is currently in the custody of the Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office.

Homicide Investigation
(Media Release 44)

The Birmingham Police Department is conducting a homicide investigation. The incident occurred on Saturday, February 26, 2022.

The victim has been identified as:
Navari Deon Jones, (38), B/M, of Bessemer, Alabama.

Just before 1 a.m., North Precinct officers were dispatched to a person shot call at the Tru-Riders Motorcycle Club located at 905 Reverend Abraham Woods Junior Boulevard.

Officers arrived on the scene and observed an adult female victim suffering from an apparent gunshot wound. During this time, a Birmingham Police officer was at BPD Headquarters when the officer heard a car crash in the 1700 block of 1st Avenue North.

Upon further investigation, the officer observed the driver of the vehicle suffering from an apparent gunshot wound. Note: The driver’s vehicle collided with two parked vehicles.

Birmingham Fire and Rescue (BFR) personnel arrived on both scenes. They transported the female victim to UAB Hospital with a non-life-threatening gunshot wound. BFR pronounced the male victim in front of BPD Headquarters deceased on the scene.

Officers also learned an additional adult female victim showed up at UAB Hospital with a non-life-threatening gunshot wound.
The preliminary investigation suggests an altercation ensued inside of the location prior to the suspect firing shots.

Currently, there is no one custody.
