Public’s Assistance with the Kenneth Earl Harris Jr. Homicide Investigation

 Detectives request assistance from the public in obtaining information on a recent homicide that occurred on Tuesday, March 20, 2023, that claimed the life of Kenneth Earl Harris Jr.

At around 9:15 PM, West Precinct officers were dispatched to a residence in the 500 Block of Buffalo Street on report of a person shot.

Officers arrived on the scene when they entered a residence and observed Kenneth Harris Jr. suffering from an apparent gunshot wound.

Birmingham Fire and Rescue personnel arrived on the scene and transported Mr. Harris to UAB Hospital with life-threatening injuries.

UAB Hospital Staff notified Birmingham 911 Communications the victim passed away the following morning.

The preliminary investigation suggests the victim was struck by gunfire after shots were fired into the residence.

Detectives have conducted follow-up investigations and believe the suspect’s vehicle involved in this homicide is a white four-door sedan.

 Homicide Investigation

The Birmingham Police Department is conducting a homicide investigation. The incident occurred on Tuesday, March 20, 2023.

The victim has been identified as:

Kenneth Earl Harris Jr., (42), B/M, of Birmingham, Alabama.  

At around 9:15 PM, West Precinct officers were dispatched to a residence in the 500 Block of Buffalo Street on report of a person shot.

Officers arrived on the scene when they entered a residence and observed Kenneth Harris Jr. suffering from an apparent gunshot wound.

Birmingham Fire and Rescue personnel arrived on the scene and transported Mr. Harris to UAB Hospital with life-threatening injuries.

UAB Hospital Staff notified Birmingham 911 Communications the victim passed away this morning.

The preliminary investigation suggests the victim was struck by gunfire after shots were fired into the residence.

There is no one in custody.

FBI Uniform Crime Reporting guidelines do not require law enforcement agencies to include justifiable death investigations in the total homicide investigations counts.
