Public’s Assistance with Homicide Investigation

Detectives request assistance from the public in obtaining information on a homicide which occurred on Sunday, October 24, 2021.

On Sunday, October 24, 2021, Kwesi Barham was found shot to death in the 1700 block of 87th Street North. An East Precinct officer on routine patrol discovered Mr. Barham lying unresponsive in the roadway.  It is unknown how long Mr. Barham had been there. The area, although secluded, was still a frequently traveled area.

Currently, BPD detectives are asking for the public’s assistance in bringing justice for Kwesi Barham’s family.

Homicide Investigation

(Media Release 254)

The Birmingham Police Department is conducting a homicide investigation. The incident occurred on Sunday, October 24, 2021.

The victim has been identified as:

Kwesi Barham, (18), B/M, of Tarrant, Alabama.

At approximately 7:30 a.m., an East Precinct officer was patrolling the 1700 block of 87th Street North when he observed a black male lying unresponsive on a roadway suffering multiple gunshot wounds.

Birmingham Fire and Rescue personnel arrived on the scene and pronounced the victim deceased.

Details are limited in this investigation.
