Arrest Made in an Attempted Murder Investigation
The Birmingham Police Department reports detectives have obtained a warrant for an arrest in connection to the attempted murder of a 56-year-old man.
On Sunday, March 24, 2024, at approximately 3:00 p.m. West Precinct officers responded to a call of a Person shot at 10th Street W and 6th Avenue W.
When officers arrived on the scene, they observed the victim lying on the ground suffering from an apparent gunshot wound.
Birmingham Fire and Rescue Services arrived on the scene and transport the victim to an area hospital with life-threatening injuries.
The investigation has revealed that the victim and the suspect were involved in a verbal altercation that led to the suspect firing gunshots and wounding the victim. The suspect then ran away from the location.
Officers who arrived on the scene were given a detailed description of the suspect and began searching the area.
The suspect was quickly found and taken into custody without incident.
The suspect has been identified as:
Michael Deonta Milton, (23), B/M, of Birmingham, Alabama.
Birmingham Police Felony Assault Detectives presented information on the case to the Jefferson County District Attorney’s Office. After an assessment of the information, detectives obtained a warrant for Attempted Murder.
The suspect is currently in the Jefferson County Jail where he will be held on a $60,000.00 Bond.
