Public’s Assistance with the Erskin Irvin Jr. Homicide Investigation

 Detectives request assistance from the public in obtaining information on a homicide that occurred on Thursday, May 11, 2023, in the 1400 Block of 33rd Street North that claimed the life of Erskin Irvin Jr.

At approximately 9:50 PM, North Precinct officers were dispatched to a call of Shots Fired in the 1400 Block of 33rd Street North.

Officers arrived on the scene and observed the victim inside a vehicle suffering from a gunshot wound.

Birmingham Fire and Rescue personnel arrived on the scene and pronounced the victim deceased.

The preliminary investigation suggests two or more suspects shot the victim in a targeted attack. Following the shooting, the suspects fled towards the Norwood Bottoms.

Detectives believe these suspects have committed multiple additional violent crimes since killing Erskin Irving Jr.

Homicide Investigation

The Birmingham Police Department is conducting a homicide investigation. The incident occurred on Thursday, May 11, 2023.

The victim has been identified as:

Erskin Irvin Jr., (37), B/M, of Birmingham, Alabama.

At approximately 9:50 PM, North Precinct officers were dispatched to a call of Shots Fired in the 1400 Block of 33rd Street North.

Officers arrived on the scene and observed the victim inside a vehicle suffering from a gunshot wound.

Birmingham Fire and Rescue personnel arrived on the scene and pronounced the victim deceased.

The preliminary investigation suggests the victim’s loved ones heard shots being fired outside their residence. They went outside and discovered the victim inside his vehicle.

We believe the victim was targeted. There is no one in custody.
