Arrest Made in the Jerry Lewis Jr. Homicide Investigation
The Birmingham Police Department reports detectives have obtained a warrant for an arrest in connection to the murder of Jerry Lewis Jr., who was shot and killed on Monday, March 11, 2024, in the 10 Block of 1st Avenue Southwest.
The suspect has been identified as:
Jaiden Davis, (19), B/M, of Center Point, Alabama.
On Monday, March 18, 2024, Birmingham Police Detectives presented case information to the Jefferson County District Attorney’s Office. After an assessment of the information, detectives obtained a warrant for Murder on Jaiden Davis.
On Thursday, April 4, 2024, the Birmingham Police Department’s Crime Reduction Team arrested Jaiden Davis at a residence in Center Point, Alabama. Detectives recovered a “Glock Switch” fixed to a firearm during the arrest.
Jaiden Davis is in the custody of the Jefferson County Jail and is being held with No Bond.
Homicide Investigation

The Birmingham Police Department is conducting a homicide investigation. The incident occurred on Monday, March 11, 2024.
The victim has been identified as:
Jerry Edward Lewis Jr., (43), B/M, of Birmingham, Alabama.
At approximately 4:53 p.m., South Precinct officers were responding to a Person Shot call in the 10 Block of 1st Avenue SW, the Titusville Community.
When officers arrived on the scene, they observed the victim lying on the ground unresponsive, suffering from an apparent gunshot wound.
Birmingham Fire and Rescue Services arrived on the scene and pronounced the victim deceased.
The preliminary investigation suggests that the victim was standing outside with other community members when the suspect, wearing a ski mask, began firing shots striking the victim. The suspect left the scene.
No one else was injured.
There is a no one in custody.
