BPD Announces the Arrest of Serial Robbery Suspect Jakobie Smith

The Birmingham Police Department announces the arrest of 21-year-old Serial Robbery Suspect Jakobie Smith.

Jakobie Smith, (21), B/M, of Birmingham, Alabama.

BPD Robbery detectives sought Jakobie Smith after the Jefferson County District Attorney’s Office issued at least 32 Robbery warrants for his arrest. Jakobie Smith was identified as a suspect in the armed robberies of numerous Hispanic victims dating back to October 2022.

On Thursday, April 6, 2023, the United States Marshal’s Service took Jakobie Smith into custody at a residence in Lawrenceville, Georgia.

During the arrest, Jakobie Smith fled into an attic, later fleeing into a basement until law enforcement officers used gas to take him into custody.

Jakobie Smith is in the custody of the Gwinnett County Jail awaiting extradition to Jefferson County, Alabama.

 Suspect Wanted in Robbery Investigation Targeting Hispanic Victims

The Birmingham Police Department seeks assistance in locating an individual with at least 32 Armed Robbery Warrants after being a part of multiple robberies targeting Hispanic victims in the Birmingham community.

BPD is searching for 20-year-old Jakobie Smith of Birmingham, Alabama. He is 5’9″ and weighs about 180 pounds.

He is believed to be armed and extremely dangerous.

Anyone who sees him is asked to immediately call 911 or Crime Stoppers (205) 254-7777.
