Homicide Investigation
The Birmingham Police Department is conducting a homicide investigation. The incident occurred on Thursday, April 6, 2023.
The victim has been identified as:
Anthony Darniel Knight, (47), B/M, of Birmingham, Alabama.
At around 9:30 PM, West Precinct officers were dispatched to the 1400 Block of Brighton Road on report of a Person Shot.
Officers arrived on the scene when they discovered the victim lying unresponsive in a vehicle suffering from an apparent gunshot wound.
Birmingham Fire and Rescue personnel arrived on the scene and pronounced the victim deceased.
The preliminary investigation suggests the victim was traveling in a vehicle on Brighton Road when a vehicle pulled alongside of his and an unknown suspect(s) fired multiple rounds at the victim’s vehicle.
The suspect(s) fled the scene; no one is in custody.
We believe the victim was followed and targeted in this shooting.
