Public Relations Manager joins BPD

In an effort to further open the lines of communication between the Birmingham Police Department and the public, Ariana Garza has joined BPD as Public Relations Manager.

Garza will lead the department’s public relations team, which includes Public Information Officer Sergeant Rodarius Mauldin in addition to officers assigned to maintaining the department’s social media accounts.

Garza previously served the Birmingham Police Department from Feb. 2017 to March 2018 as a Crime Prevention Officer assigned to the East Precinct. In addition to her

previous service with BPD, Garza worked at TV stations in Texas, Oklahoma and Alabama in a variety of capacities, including news anchor, reporter and multi-media journalist. She is a graduate of Southern Methodist University with a Bachelor of Arts in Journalism and a minor in Human Rights.

“It is my goal to provide accurate, timely information and continue to build the relationship amongst the Birmingham Police Department and the local media. I look forward to working with Ariana and appreciate her assistance,” Sgt. Mauldin said.
