Homicide Investigation
The Birmingham Police Department reports detectives are conducting a homicide investigation. The incident occurred on Friday, March 13, 2021.
The victim has been identified as Robert Henry Goodgame, (41), B/M, of Birmingham, Alabama.
At approximately 3:05 p.m., the Birmingham Police Department 911 Communication Division received a call from a third party caller of an altercation occurring at an apartment located in the 962 53rd Street North. Officers arrived at the location and discovered the victim, Robert Goodgame lying on a sofa with an apparent gunshot wound. Goodgame was pronounced deceased on the scene by Birmingham Fire and Rescue.
The preliminary investigation indicates during the altercation a single gunshot was heard. The suspect fled prior to officer’s arrival. No arrest has been made in this investigation. Detectives have not determined a clear motive.

The Birmingham Police Department adheres to FBI Uniform Crime Reporting guidelines set for all law enforcement agencies across the United States. FBI Uniform Crime Reporting guidelines do not require law enforcement agencies to include justifiable death investigations into the total homicide investigations counts.
