Homicide Investigation
The Birmingham Police Department reports detectives are conducting a homicide investigation. The incident occurred on Saturday night March 13 at just before 10:00p.m.
The victim will be identified upon notification of next of kin.
The Birmingham a Police Department Communication Division received a shot spotter call of a single shot fired in the 500 block of Saint Charles Avenue Southwest. Officers from the West Precinct responded to 520 Saint Charles Avenue to investigate the call. Officers arrived and discovered an adult male on the porch sitting upright in a chair unresponsive. After further investigation it was determined the male suffered from a gunshot wound. The victim was pronounced a deceased by Birmingham Fire and Rescue.
The preliminary investigation indicates the victim was involved in some form of an altercation with the suspect prior to him being shot.
