Homicide Investigation
The Birmingham Police Department is conducting a homicide investigation. The incident occurred on Saturday, April 13, 2024.
The victim has been identified as:
Christopher Deandre Coleman, (41), B/M, of Birmingham, Alabama.
At approximately 11:10 p.m., West Precinct Officers responded to a third-party call of a tow truck parked in the driveway of a vacant home in the 1700 Block of Maple Avenue SW.
When officers arrived on the scene, they observed the tow truck in the driveway of the vacant property with the engine running. As officers approached the tow truck, they observed the victim near the truck on the ground unresponsive, suffering from an apparent gunshot wound.
Birmingham Fire and Rescue Services arrived on the scene and pronounced the victim deceased.
The preliminary investigation suggests a community member heard gunfire just before officers arrived on the scene.
