Media Release 77- Homicide Investigation- Huntington Lane

Homicide Investigation

The Birmingham Police Department is conducting a homicide investigation. The incident occurred on Monday, April 17, 2023.

The victim has been identified as:

Isaiah Randall Harris, (22), B/M, of Birmingham, Alabama.

At approximately 6:40 PM, West Precinct officers were dispatched to the 1900 Block of Huntington Lane on report of a Person Shot.

Officers arrived on the scene and entered a residence when they observed the victim in a room suffering from an apparent gunshot wound.

Birmingham Fire and Rescue personnel arrived on the scene and pronounced the victim deceased.

The preliminary investigation suggests there was a small party at the residence. The victim and the suspect were in a room together possibly playing video games when partygoers heard gunshots.

The suspect fled the scene.

On Tuesday, April 18, 2023, an adult male suspect turned himself into police custody at BPD Headquarters. The Birmingham Police Department’s Crime Reduction Team assisted.

The suspect is in the Birmingham City Jail under a 48-Hour Felony Extension for the charge of Murder.

The Birmingham Police Department adheres to FBI Uniform Crime Reporting guidelines set for all law enforcement agencies across the United States. FBI Uniform Crime Reporting guidelines do not require law enforcement agencies to include justifiable death investigations in the total homicide investigations counts.
