Arrest Made in Homicide Investigation

The Birmingham Police Department reports an arrest has been made in the murder of  Montrell Holloway. Holloway was murdered on Sunday, March 21, 2021.

The suspect has been identified as:
Chelsie Jones, (27), b/f, of Birmingham, Alabama.

Additional information obtained during the investigation indicates the incident occurred in the presence of juveniles under the age of 12 who were related to the victim. Detectives presented information gathered on the case to the Jefferson County District Attorney’s Office for review. Detectives obtain a Capital Murder warrant for the arrest of Chelsie Jones. Jones is will be held in the custody of the Jefferson County Jail with no bond.

Media Release 79-Homicide Investigation Update – Montrell Fredrickgus Holloway

Homicide Investigation

The Birmingham Police Department reports detectives are conducting a homicide investigation. The incident occurred on Saturday, March 21, 2021 at 1635 Alameda Avenue.

The victim has been identified Montrell Fredrickgus Holloway, (22), B/M, of Birmingham, Alabama.

At approximately 6:14 p.m., officers from the West Precinct responded to a person shot at the residence. Officers arrived and discovered the victim, Montrell Holloway in a hallway of the residence with an apparent gunshot wound. Birmingham Fire and Rescue responded to the residence and the victim was pronounced deceased on the scene. The information gathered thus far indicates the motive of this homicide is domestic in nature. The Birmingham Police Department has the suspect in custody. The identity of the suspect will be release after formal charge are filed.
