Arrest Made in Homicide Investigation

The Birmingham Police Department reports an additional arrest has been made in connection to the Terrance Jerome Hardy homicide investigation. The incident occurred on Thursday, March 4, 2021.

The suspect has been identified as:
Jatavious Foster, (32), b/m, of Birmingham, Alabama.

Birmingham Police Detectives presented information on the case to the Jefferson County District Attorney’s Office. After an assessment of the information, detectives obtained a warrant for Arson ($ 60.000.00 bond) and Abuse of a Corpse ($ 15,000.00 bond). Foster will be held in the custody of the Jefferson County Jail.

Homicide Investigation Update

(Please see Media Release 62 & 63)

The Birmingham Police Department reports the Jefferson County Coroner’s Office has identified the victim of a homicide that occurred on Thursday, March 4, 2021. The victim has been identified as Terrance Jerome Hardy, (39), B/M, of Birmingham, Alabama. BPD detectives have made an arrest in connection to the murder of Terrance Hardy.

The suspect has been identified as:
Iesa Collins, (36), B/F, of Birmingham, Alabama.

Birmingham Police Detectives presented information on the case to the Jefferson County District Attorney’s Office. After an assessment of the information, detectives obtained a warrant for Murder ($ 100,000.00 bond), Arson ($ 60.000.00 bond) and Abuse of a Corpse ($ 15,000.00 bond) Iesa Collins is currently in the custody of the Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office.

Homicide Investigation
(Media Release 63)

The Birmingham Police Department is conducting a homicide investigation. The incident occurred on Thursday, March 4, 2021.
The victim will be identified upon notice to the next of kin.

At approximately 9:40 p.m., East Precinct officers responded to the 142 Woodstation Place on report of an apartment fire. Birmingham Fire & Rescue personnel arrived on the scene and extinguished the flames.

Birmingham Fire & Rescue personnel conducted a search of the apartment where they located a victim lying unresponsive near a doorway. The victim was pronounced deceased on the scene.

The preliminary investigation suggests the victim suffered a gunshot wound. There are no suspect(s) in custody. The Jefferson County Medical Examiner will perform an autopsy on the victim to determine a cause of death.

Unclassified Death Investigation
(Media Release 62)

The Birmingham Police Department is conducting an unclassified death investigation. The incident occurred on Thursday, March 4, 2021.

The victim will be identified upon notice to the next of kin.

At approximately 9:40 p.m., East Precinct officers responded to the 100 block of Woodstation Place on report of an apartment fire. Birmingham Fire & Rescue personnel arrived on the scene and extinguished the flames.

Birmingham Fire & Rescue personnel conducted a search of the apartment where they located a victim lying unresponsive near a doorway. The victim was pronounced deceased on the scene.

BPD detectives are working to determine if foul play was involved in this incident. The Jefferson County Medical Examiner will perform an autopsy on the victim to determine a cause of death.
