Homicide Investigation Update
The Birmingham Police Department reports the Jefferson County Coroner’s Office has identified the victim of a homicide that occurred on Monday, January 4, 2021.
The victim has been identified as:
Brian Fleming, (52), B/M, of Birmingham, Alabama.

The Birmingham Police Department is conducting a homicide investigation. The incident occurred on Sunday, January 3, 2021.
The victim will be identified pending notification to the next of kin.
At approximately 8:45 pm, West Precinct officers were dispatched to 2108 Warrior Road on report of a person down. Several citizens began calling the Birmingham 911 Communications Division reporting gunshots they heard in the area.
Officers arrived on the scene where they located a victim lying unresponsive in the parking lot of an apartment complex suffering from an apparent gunshot wound. Birmingham Fire and Rescue personnel arrived on the scene and pronounced the victim deceased. Details are limited in this investigation.

This is Birmingham’s 3rd homicide of 2021.
The Birmingham Police Department adheres to FBI Uniform Crime Reporting guidelines set for all law enforcement agencies across the United States.
