Media Release 93

Homicide Investigation

The Birmingham Police Department is conducting a homicide investigation. The incident occurred on Wednesday, April 7, 2021.

The victim has been identified as:

Howard Johnson, (29), B/M, of Irondale, Alabama.

At approximately 10:15 p.m., West Precinct officers were dispatched to 812 Avenue G on report of a person shot. Officers arrived on the scene and found a person lying in the hallway of the residence suffering from an apparent gunshot wound. Birmingham Fire and Rescue personnel arrived on the scene and pronounced the victim deceased.

The preliminary investigation suggests that a domestic-related argument took place inside of the residence prior to the victim being shot. A person of interest remained on the scene and was taken into custody for questioning.
