Attempted Murder Investigation
The Birmingham Police Department reports an arrest has been made in connection to an attempted murder investigation where a one year old child was wounded. The incident occurred on Sunday, April 26, 2020.
The child is hospitalized and recovering from injuries.
At approximately 5:09 p.m., North Precinct Officers responded to 1227 12th Street North on a call of a person shot (1 year old child) at the location. Upon arrival officers discovered the child in a vehicle suffering from a gunshot wound. Officers rendered aid until medics arrived. Birmingham Fire and Rescue transported the child to Children’s Hospital. The child sustained nonlife threatening injuries.
The preliminary investigation suggest the shooting occurred at 1134 4th Place North were multiple rounds were fired. The victim was transported to 1227 12th Street North were authorities were notified. Leads gathered by detectives lead to an arrest, however this is an ongoing investigation.
The suspect has been identified as
Larry Jackson Jr., (20), B/M, of Birmingham, Alabama
BPD Investigators presented the information gathered on the case to the Jefferson County District Attorney’s office for review. Following the assessment of the information, an Attempted Murder (bond $60,000) and Discharging a Firearm into an Occupied Vehicle warrant ($30,000) were obtained. The suspect was arrested and will be held in the custody of the Jefferson County Jail.
