Homicide Investigation
The Birmingham Police Department is conducting a homicide investigation. The incident occurred on Friday, May 12, 2023.
The victim has been identified as:
John Anthony Jackson, (43), B/M, of Birmingham, Alabama.
At approximately 1:45 PM, West Precinct officers were dispatched to the 1000 Block of Elm Street Southwest on report of Shots Fired. While officers were en route, the call was updated to a Person Shot.
Officers arrived on the scene and observed the victim lying unresponsive near a vehicle.
Birmingham Fire and Rescue personnel arrived on the scene and pronounced the victim deceased.
The preliminary investigation suggests the victim was targeted.
There is no one in custody.
