Homicide Investigation
The Birmingham Police Department is conducting a homicide investigation. The incident occurred on Tuesday, January 4, 2022.
The victim has been identified as:
Leeco Whittington, (24), B/M, of Birmingham, Alabama.
At approximately 3:10 p.m., West Precinct officers were dispatched to 36 South Park Road on report of a person shot. Officers arrived on the scene and discovered two males shot in the parking lot.
Birmingham Fire and Rescue personnel arrived on the scene and transported both victims to UAB Hospital. Leeco Whittington succumbed to his injuries at UAB Hospital. The second victim suffered non-life-threatening injuries.
The preliminary investigation suggests the victims were at the location when two unknown suspects approached them on foot and began firing shots at them. The suspects fled the scene in an unknown silver sedan.
Currently, there is no one in custody.

This is Birmingham’s 4th murder investigation of 2022.
