Lieutenant Marion Benson

Lieutenant Marion Benson has over 32 years of Law Enforcement experience with the City of Birmingham Police Department. She graduated from Fultondale High School and resides in Jefferson County.

Lieutenant Marion Benson graduated from the Police Academy in 1988, and was assigned to the East Precinct. She was assigned to Gate City Housing Projects, East Lake and the East Precinct Desk, where she was responsible for the weekly stats. She also, held assignments with Youth Services, where she taught G.R.E.AT., was a member of the G.R.E.A.T. National Training Team, Explorer Advisor and a School Resource Officer.

Lieutenant Marion Benson was promoted to Sergeant August 24, 2013, and assigned to North Precinct Evening Shift. In 2018, she was transferred to Crime against Property, where she supervised Auto Theft, Burglary and the Financial Crimes Detectives. On July 20, 2019, she was promoted to Lieutenant and assigned to East Precinct as the C-shift Commander.

Lieutenant Marion Benson is currently assigned to South Precinct.  She has two daughters and two sons and she is a member of New Hope Missionary Baptist Church – Robinwood.
